Why Clean Your Gutters?
Your Gutters are part of a system that helps move water and debris away from your roof and home. They help protect your home from damage by making sure water doesn’t settle and cause mold and decay. Gutter cleaning is needed so water can flow off your roof, into your gutters, and to the ground properly. Blocked gutters can lead to costly repairs, such as ice dams or roof leaks. The professionals at G&S Window Washing and Gutter Cleaning, Inc. can safely and efficiently clean your gutters.

How often should I clean my gutters?
Every house is different. It really depends on the number of tall trees you have, as well as wind conditions and the climate you live in. You can judge the need to clean your gutters by the debris and foliage that falls on your lawn and driveway. That same debris and foliage is falling on your roof and ending up in your gutters. When gutters are full, debris should be removed. Sometimes you will notice water coming over the sides during heavy rains--this is a sign that cleaning is needed!

Will it make a mess on the ground if you clean the gutters?
No, we clean gutters by hand, WE DO NOT USE LEAF BLOWERS TO CLEAN GUTTERS. We take all the debris and bag it.
Pests
Clogged gutters can cause standing water and invite all kinds of unwanted pests – like mosquitoes, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and raccoons.

Water Damage
"Clogged gutters can cause water damage in your basement, foundation, and walls. This leads to mold and can weaken the walls, foundation, or the gutters themselves."
- From redbeacon.com Home Improvement writer Lisa Snowden-McCray

Ice Dams
“Unclean gutters will likely clog and cause ice dams on your roof that can force water inside your home. This can also cause the gutter system to become so heavy that it can pull away from the house and fall to the ground.”
-Bob Vila - bobvila.com – 10 fall home maintenance musts

“You can judge the need to clean your gutters by how the rainfall is flowing off your roof. If all the water is flowing through the downspouts properly, it’s not time. If water is overflowing or there is visible debris sticking up from the gutters, it’s time to clean them. It is quite normal in heavily wooded areas to need to clean gutters 2 or more times in the fall.”
